REI Bike Drive THIS SATURDAY

Bring your old bike and exchange it for a 20% discount coupon from REI. We’ll be there from 9am – 3pm this Saturday, May 19th. Help the Do-it-Yourself Bike Shop and outreach like free kids bike tune-ups in low-income neighborhoods. Thanks for your support!

West Central Tune-Up Huge Success

In lieu of pictures from this event of our own, I’m redirecting you to the blogs of Pat (26inchslicks) and Hank (Shallow Cogitations), respectively.

Suffice to say we had a fabulous volunteer turnout that tuned up nearly 40 bicycles and fitted kids for as many helments courtesy of the Kiwanis Club.

Thanks to John Speare and Laurel Sylvan for organizing the crew.

Thanks to our friends at Taste and The Shop for treats and coffee on the day.

See you next time!

Shop Closed This Saturday

The shop will be closed this Saturday so that we can support the bicycle tune-up at the West Central Community Center. Come see us! We’ll be there from 9:30 till 2:30. Maxwell and Elm Streets in the West Central Community.

Cycling Photos

Oy! Spokane Pedalers. A photograph our P2P President took of his Daughter Gabrielle (Gabby) has made it as a finalist into a contest. Help him win a cool bicycle jersey by voting for for it. If he wins he’ll wear it during the Annual meeting in May (instead of a Hawaiian shirt).

Here’s the link…

It’s the photo titled Gabby.

It kinda made me think…

Mayhaps *we* should have a cycling related photo contest.

It’s a new unity. Peace brothers and sisters.

Spokane Bike Swap a success!

Thank you so much all you wonderful, generous folks who volunteered your time and expertise last weekend at the first annual Bike Swap. It was a great event and exceeded everyone’s expectations. Bikes were flying out of there faster than they could be put out, and there were some great deals on used parts and accessories. We got our space for free, sold some bikes, and gave out a lot of information to folks who either didn’t know about us or didn’t know where we’d moved. Next year will be even better! Thank you, thank you, great people!

Shop Hours Changing

Effective April 1st our hours will be Thursday 2 – 7, Saturday’s 10 – 6 and Sunday 12 – 4. Closed Fridays.

Why? After researching the shop use, Fridays have consistently been a loss for us.
